The book of Acts is also sometimes known as Acts of the Apostles of Acts of the Holy Spirit.  Either alternative name is appropriate as the book is one of action.  Ultimately the two names would be best together even as it is clear that the book of Acts is about the acts of apostles as they go forth into all of the world with the gospel of God but also the Holy Spirit goes with them.  God continually authenticates his message through miracles as the Spirit witnesses alongside of the apostles that the Word is true.

The first half of the book focuses mainly on Peter as he unlocks the doors to the Kingdom of God following the order laid out in Acts 1:8 – Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the ends of the earth.  As Peter brings the gospel to the first Gentile, Cornelius, in Acts 12, Peter begins to move out of the limelight of the book.  From there the action follows Paul heavily as he goes about taking the gospel to the rest of the Gentiles.
